Why are my Programs not displaying in Search Programs?

There are several things you must do within u.select for your institution's programs to display in the Search Programs area.

Are your Programs turned on?

Go to Administration - Manage School Settings and see if your "Enable Programs" flag is set to YES. If set to NO, your programs will not display in either the Search Programs or Browse Programs by School areas.

Have you established a CIP Code for your Program?

The Search Programs functionality allows users to search for programs by Category. This category is based on the CIP Code value. If you have not set a CIP Code on each of your programs, they will not display within Search Programs.

To set a CIP Code for a Program:

  1. Go to Manage Programs
  2. Select a specific Program
  3. Click the Menu icon to access the Menu
  4. Click Edit
  5. Select the appropriate CIP Code from the drop down list
  6. Save
  7. Run and Re-Index the program (see below)

Have you Run and Re-Indexed your programs?

To have your programs display in the Search Programs area you need to have a copy of the audit for users to view. Audits are run for each program using a "dummy" student, your xxxxxx student account. After you have run the audit, they need to be saved to the server through the Re-Index process. Saved program audits are saved globally once a day, but to have your changes take immediate effect you will need to Re-Index the Programs.

To Run and Re-Index your programs:

  1. Go to Manage Programs
  2. Run the Program which can be done at various levels:
    • At the School level, which runs audits for every program your institution has within u.select
    • At the Category level, which runs audits for every program within that category only
    • At the Program level, which runs an audit only for that specific program
  3. Once your programs have been Run, click the Re-Index button
  4. Your programs should now be available in the Search Programs section
