Manage Servers

What is Manage Servers?

Manage Servers is a place for Server Administrators to view and edit the settings on your u.select Server.  The following fields are in the Manage Server area:

Server Name: 

Server ID:

Domain Name:  The domain for your server.  For example, xx.transfer.org.

Default Unique:  The School ID for the default school on your server.  This school will be the default when logged in as the server admin or guest on the server.

Server Port: Port location for u.select on this server.

Web Prefix:   The prefix for the web address for the domain name specified. Value could be http:// or https://.

CGI Path:  The path following the domain name where the u.select application can be found on this server. /cas/index.jsp is the standard.

CAS Version: The version of CAS/u.select being used on the server.

Public Key:  The public key used to decrypt encrypted messages.

Activation Date: 

Inactivation Date:

Guesto Logo URL: The URL for the image to be displayed as the logo in the banner at the top of the u.select screen for Guests.

SMTP Host:

Auto Deploy:  Check the checkbox if this server should have the latest version of u.select auto-deployed to it.

Hierarchical Settings

• These settings will affect all schools on the server, but can be overriden by individual schools in the Manage Schools Settings page for that school.

• Interactive Audit Enabled: Allows your school to produce DARwin Interactive Audits when creating Plans.
• Accept Interactive Audits: (server level setting only) Indicates that this server has the capability to display IA Plans produced by schools on other u.select servers.
• Program Sort Order: Allows you to choose how Programs are sorted in the tree-view found in Manage Programs.

• Only most current year for Plans: If "show current catalog only" is selected, a user will only be able to create a Plan with the most current catalog. For example:
  • If the LYT on the Program is 999907: "Current Catalog" will be the only option in the dropdown.
  • If the LYT on the Program is 200807: "2007-2008" will be the only option in the dropdown.
• Maps Key: (server level setting only) Allows server to display Bing maps in the schools area.
• Map Type: (server level setting only) select between using Google Maps and Microsoft Bing Maps.
• Google Analytics Key: (server level setting only) The key for using google anaylytics.
• IP Header Name: name of header value that has an IP address
• Audit Formatter: Audit formatting applied to DARwin audits, allowing them to contain customizable course catalog links.
• Case of Department Abbreviation: Case of the department abbreviation used within the Degree Audit Catalog URL.
  • Dept Case Lower - will force the department abbreviation to be lower case
  • Dept Case Upper - will force the department abbreviation to be upper case
  • Dept Case No Change - will not force the department abbreviation to be upper or lower case, but will use the dept abbrev as is.
• ReCaptcha Options: (server level setting only) will turn on or off the ReCaptcha anti-bot service.
  • Use ReCaptcha - will enable ReCaptcha for all guest contacts and account creation and the occasional contact for students.
  • Disable ReCaptcha - will turn off ReCaptcha for all guest and student functions.
  • Only Require ReCaptcha for Guests - will only enable ReCaptcha for guest questions and account creation.
• Home Page: toggle between the old 4.1.0 version of the home page and the newer 4.2.4 version of the home page.
• Remoting Protocol: choose between
  • Text - aka Burlap
  • Binary - aka Hessian
• cegRemoting Type:
  • Default
  • Remoting not used
  • DARwin protocol
  • u.achieve protocol

How do I use Manage Servers?

Edit Server Settings

To edit a message:

1. Click on the Edit Icon 
2. Edit the necessary information
3. Click Save
