| Tip You can set up to three categories to make your programs easily understood and accessed by u.select users. Keep in mind that people who may not be familiar with your school will be accessing this information, so it is important to make it organized in a way that everyone can find the program that they want. Because of this, we recommend that you organize your categories and programs by academic subject area and not by college. |
Program Edit Menu
The edit menu can be found by clicking the edit menu icon
next to your school ID, all categories and all programs.
Adding Programs to u.select

| When importing questions and answers, you will need to import the question file FIRST, then the program file in order to ensure that the questions are linked up correctly with their corresponding programs. |
- Open a notepad file

An entry in this field is required if you want your programs to display in the Find a Program section. Per the CIP website, CIP code values are displayed "in the following formats for 2-, 4-, and 6-digit codes: 01, 01.01, and 01.0101." For consistencies sake, we have chosen to use 6-digit codes. So a value of "01" would be entered as "01.0000". If you do not store CIP codes using this format in your sis you will need to modify the value to fit this pattern before importing your programs into u.select. |

How to Import
- Click Import
- Browse to find the location of the file you wish to import
- Delete Previous Entry - Select YES or NO** Selecting Yes will remove all of the Programs currently listed in u.select for your institution and will replace them with the Categories and Programs in the Import file
- Selecting No will simply add the Categories and Programs in the Import file to those already listed for your institution
- Click Submit - depending on the size of the import file, the import process might take some time
Manual Method
- Click the menu icon
where you want to add the program or category - Click Add a Category or Add a Program** For a category:

- Enter Category Description (required)
- Select Status (required) Choose from Visible, Plan Only or Test
- Click Save
- For a Program
- Enter the Program Name (required)
- Enter the Status (required) Choose from Visible, Plan Only or Test
- Enter Degree (required) - This is the degree type (ex. Bachelor or Associate) that is used in the Search Program section of u.select
- Select CIP Code (recommended) - NOTE: If you don't select a CIP Code the program will not be available in Search Programs
- Enter the Program Terms (required) - You may enter the year and month manually or select the terms from the calendar
- Enter Program URL (optional) - Directs the user to a URL with additional information about the program
- Enter Program Code (required) - Code used to identify the program in your degree audit
- COM Table Override DARwin Only
- Program Note (optional)
- Delivery Type (required) - Select all the ways this program is available at your institution. (this information is used by students when searching for programs)

Run Programs
Run Program(s) is a way to produce plans for your xxxxxx user. If you haven't created an xxxxxx user you'll see a message warning you on the Home Page.
Note: The xxxxxx user must have the User ID of xxxxxx (all lowercase)
You can run these audits at different levels. If you Run Programs at the Institution level it will run plans for all of the available programs. If you Run Programs at the Category level, it will run plans for the programs within that category only. Run Program at the Program level will only run that individual program.
| Every time you make changes to your programs, including adding/removing programs and categories or updating the degree audit encoding, you need to run and re-index your programs so these changes will be reflected in the Find a Program and Programs by School areas. |
To Run Program(s):
- Click the menu icon
at the top most level where you want to run your programs
- Running programs from the school level will run them for every program you've added to u.select
- Running programs from a category level will run only those programs within that category
- Running programs at the school level will run only that program
- On the confirmation page you will see a list of all the programs you are about to run
- Click Submit - Plans will now be run for the xxxxxx user. Once you log into you xxxxxx user account you can view the Plans in the My Plans section of u.select. Depending on how many Plans you run at a time some guides may be pending for a few minutes.
- Once your plans have have come back successfully you need to Re-Index the programs
- To be able to see the changes you've made to your programs in the Find a Program and Programs by School areas of u.select you must re-index your programs.
- To re-index: click on the Re-index Programs button on the Manage Programs page any time you make an update to program data.

If you don't know the password for your xxxxxx account remember you can go to Manage Users under Administration, look up "xxxxxx" as the user id and change the password.
Other Program Menu Options
Edit
By selecting Edit you will be able to make changes to your categories and programs. Simply change the appropriate field. These are the same fields you set up when you Add a Program or Add a Category.
Manage Questions
This is the same as the Manage Questions link found in the navigation bar on the left side of the page. See the Manage Questions section for information about how to create questions and answers.
Here you will be able to assign a questions to a Category or Program. Click the menu icon
of the program whose questions you want to manage and select Manage Questions.
You will see a list of previously created questions. To assign questions to this program select Assign. You can remove a question by selecting Unassign.
NOTE: Adding a question to a Category will add that question to every category and program within.
Delete
- Select Delete
- You will be asked to confirm your decision to delete the category/program
- The category/program will be deleted and removed from the tree view.
- If you delete a category you will delete anything within it including programs and other categories.
